Individuals, families and organisations sponsor flight experiences for children from communities around Amboseli.
Every day, aircraft cross the skies above Amboseli. Children look up. They watch them come and go. They hear their engines in the distance. But for many, the idea of sitting inside an aircraft and seeing their own home from above remains something they can only imagine.
Wings Over Amboseli wants to change that.
We give children from communities around Amboseli the opportunity to experience the wonder of flight for the very first time.
A first flight is more than a few minutes in an aeroplane. It is the moment the wheels leave the ground. The moment a familiar landscape suddenly looks completely different. The moment a child discovers that the aircraft they have watched in the sky is something they can actually step inside.
And perhaps, for some, it is the moment a new possibility begins.
Individuals, families and organisations sponsor flight experiences for children from communities around Amboseli.
Children are introduced to the aircraft, receive an aviation and safety briefing, and then experience their first flight.
The experience introduces children to aviation and to the people and careers that make flight possible.
The Amboseli landscape is extraordinary from the ground. From the air, it becomes something else entirely.
Homes, schools, roads, wildlife areas and the vast plains suddenly connect into one landscape, stretching towards Kilimanjaro on the horizon.
For the children who live here, we want that view to become an experience they can call their own.
My first aeroplane.
My first take-off.
My first view from above.
My First Flight.
Your sponsorship helps cover the cost of creating a safe and memorable first-flight experience for a child.
Wings Over Amboseli exists to give children from communities around Amboseli their first experience of flight—and through that experience, introduce them to the possibilities of aviation.
There is something unforgettable about a first flight. We want children to experience the excitement of walking up to an aircraft, taking their seat, watching the ground disappear beneath them and seeing their home from the sky.
For many, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We hope it won't be their last.
Before every flight, children are introduced to the aircraft and the basics of aviation.
• What makes an aeroplane fly?
• What does a pilot do?
• Why do aircraft have wings?
• What happens inside a cockpit?
• How do pilots navigate?
The aim isn't to teach a flying lesson. It is to encourage curiosity.
Aviation is much bigger than pilots and aeroplanes. It includes engineers, aircraft technicians, air traffic controllers, dispatchers, meteorologists, airport professionals, cabin crew, conservation pilots and many other careers.
We want children to meet people from aviation and discover opportunities they may never previously have considered.
Because sometimes the first step towards imagining a future is simply discovering that the future exists.
Amboseli is known around the world for its extraordinary landscape, wildlife and views of Kilimanjaro. It is also a place where aviation plays an important role.
Aircraft arrive and depart every day, connecting Amboseli to the rest of Kenya and the world. Wings Over Amboseli wants children growing up beneath those aircraft to feel that aviation is part of their story too.
Not every child who flies with us will become a pilot. That's not the goal.
Perhaps one becomes an engineer. Perhaps another becomes a conservationist. Perhaps another simply goes home having experienced something they never thought they would do.
But perhaps somewhere among them is a future Kenyan aviator who will remember exactly where the journey began.
Amboseli. Their first aeroplane. Their first take-off. Their first flight.

Somewhere in Amboseli, a Child Is Looking Up.
Let's give them the opportunity to look down.
It starts with a simple idea.
What if we could give children growing up around Amboseli something many of them have never experienced? A seat in an aeroplane. A view through the window. And a few unforgettable minutes seeing their own world from the sky.
That idea became Wings Over Amboseli.
We are building an initiative that brings together aviation, community and education to create first-flight experiences for children from communities surrounding Amboseli.
The excitement of a child's first flight must always be accompanied by a strong commitment to safety.
Flights under the Wings Over Amboseli programme are intended to be conducted using appropriately operated aircraft, suitably qualified aviation professionals and procedures consistent with applicable Kenyan aviation requirements.
Flight operations are subject to appropriate operational considerations, including aircraft availability and serviceability, weather and other safety requirements.
No flight is more important than safety.
Wings Over Amboseli believes the programme should be built together with the communities it serves.
We aim to work with schools, parents and guardians, community organisations and local partners to identify participating children and coordinate flight experiences.
Appropriate parent or guardian consent will be required for participating children.
Our aim is to create an experience that children, families, schools and communities can be proud to be part of.
Children deserve dignity and respect.
Participation in Wings Over Amboseli is not conditional on being photographed or used in promotional material.
Where photographs, video or children's stories are shared publicly, appropriate permissions and safeguarding considerations will form part of the programme.
The flight belongs to the child first. The photograph comes second.
It takes a community to create a first flight.
